Jan's Tours

Most people enjoy traveling, going places, seeing new things, being with others. If that sounds like you but you don’t want all the hassles of driving, parking, walking long distances, carrying luggage, making reservations, etc then traveling with friends on a tour bus just may be for you. You sit back, relax, visit, meet new friends, see interesting places, eat in quaint off the road restaurants, and get picked up right in your own neighborhood. Bus tours get special treatment; unload at the door, usually faster service, better seats, guided tours, refreshments and games while traveling, restrooms always nearby, and the comradiare of traveling with others.

Jan’s Tours, locally owned and operated by Janice Elrod has been offering service for 15 years. For over 5 years Janice worked as a travel planner and coordinator for a local bank then when her husband retired she started her own travel business. Now, for almost 10 years she and Hugh travel and plan trips together. Jan is experienced, she is licensed by the State of Iowa, she partners with others to expand her trip opportunities, and she enjoys what she is doing.

Each year Jan’s Tours offers a variety of in state day trips, some over night trips and even extended trips to far away places! In the past Jan’s Tours has been in almost every county in Iowa for one thing or another. They have been from border to border and coast to coast in the U.S., from Alaska to the River walk of San Antonio, from Seattle to the White House in Washington, D.C. Jan’s Tours hasn’t been everywhere but they are working on it.

Jan keeps her clientele informed through mailings, email, and local advertising.

Sandhill Cranes in Nebraska

March 2012

Each spring something magical happens in the heart of the Great Plains. More than 80% (500,000+) of the world's population of Sandhill Cranes converge on Ne-braska's Platte River Val-ley -- a critical sliver of threatened habitat in North America's Central Flyway. Along with them come millions of migrating ducks and geese in the

neighboring Rainwater Basin. Designated as the #1 place in the world for bird watchers by Forbes FYI, Grand Island and Hall County are at the heart of the Central Fly-way.

These are tons of things to do in the Grand Island area! We are still working on details of the itinerary and a date. If you are interested, let me know. I should have a brochure done by the first part of November.

Plan on a 3-4 day itinerary.
